Grants Received by Year
This can happen for a few reasons:
- Small-organization exemption: Nonprofits with gross receipts under $50,000 typically file a simplified Form 990-N (e-Postcard) instead of a full Form 990. This filing type contains no financial details and isn't included in digitized databases.
- Digitization gap: The organization may have filed a standard Form 990, 990-PF, or 990-EZ, but it simply hasn't been scanned or added to the public record yet.
- IRS processing backlog: The IRS sometimes experiences delays in releasing newly filed 990 forms to the public.

- Programs and Services
Pono Minds provides educational programs that empower youth through STEM learning, environmental stewardship, leadership development, and character education. Our signature initiative, Pono Pollinators, engages students in creating and maintaining native pollinator gardens and monarch butterfly habitats while exploring science, engineering, sustainability, and conservation through hands-on, place-based learning.
In addition to student programming, Pono Minds offers professional development for educators, equipping teachers with innovative curriculum, classroom resources, and practical strategies to integrate STEM, environmental education, and character development into everyday instruction. We also support schools through curriculum design, coaching, and collaborative learning opportunities.
Our organization provides leadership and mentorship programs, school garden development, environmental and service-learning projects, family engagement activities, educator resources, and community volunteer events. As funding allows, Pono Minds awards scholarships that help students participate in extracurricular educational, leadership, athletic, cultural, and enrichment opportunities that may otherwise be financially out of reach.
Through partnerships with schools, families, businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations, Pono Minds creates meaningful opportunities that inspire curiosity, build confidence, strengthen character, and foster a lifelong commitment to service and stewardship. Our programs are designed to expand educational opportunities and improve outcomes for youth, particularly those in underserved and Title I communities. - Target Audience
